Leading Vancouver LPI Test Preparation: FELC Intensive LPI Course

LPI and Beyond Writing Workshops

TheLPIcourse is designed to ensure thatESLstudents will be capable of succeeding in first-year English classes at UBC and other BC post-secondary institutions.

Franklin's LPI instructor not only has experience helping students improve their writing for theLPItest, but also spent four years at UBC as a graduate teaching assistant for the very first-year English classes theLPItest is designed to prepare students for.

Franklin's writing workshops highlight student-teacher interaction because the key to becoming a good essay writer is mastering the writer-reader relationship.

At Franklin English Language College, students quickly find themselves being able to find the right words and sentence structures to express what they want to say in an essay. At Franklin, it is never long before it becomes clear in an essay that a student has started gaining a fundamental and authentic control over the English language.

It is this mastery of the language that will take anESLstudent through theLPItest and far beyond.

LPI test too difficult? Getting frustrated with essay writing?

ManyLPIwriters get frustrated because, no matter what they are taught or how many essays they write, they encounter the same promblems over and over again.

«I just don't know what to say!»

Surprisingly, after just a few writing workshops at Franklin, students simply don't say this anymore. Simple logic and thinking templates are the key. What's more important, when students have a clear idea about what they're trying to say in an essay, sentences tend to simply become gramatically cleaner on their own.

«My writing is too simple»

We've got you covered there too. Franklin will guide you through the process of vocabulary and structure expansion, as well the process of idea elaboration and specificity.

«I keep making the same little mistakes»

Solution. At Franklin, you will become skilled at revision as well as an expert scholar on your own mistakes! With some time, you won't be able to stop yourself from spotting (and correcting) those pesky little language errors.

If you have ever found yourself saying any of the above to yourself while writing an essay, Franklin English Language College can help you

A brochure from UBC introducing aspects of theLPIis available here.

The most important part of theLPItest is the 300 to 500 word essay. At FELC, you will learn about the types ofLPIessay topics you will face and how to respond to them. YourLPIessays will be revised with you one-on-one, and you will come to understand what your strengths and weaknesses in academic writing are. Best of all, you will never again approach an essay topic feeling that you have nothing to say!

You will also have access to the various classes and resources at FELC to improve your basic language skills.
